FreeBSD 10.1 update error : ///usr/src/crypto/openssl/util/mkbuildinf.pl: No such file or directory

By | April 5, 2015

While working on a fresh FreeBSD 10.1 installation today, I encountered this error while updating the OS

# freebsd-update fetch install

Installing updates…install: ///usr/src/crypto/openssl/util/mkbuildinf.pl: No such file or directory

There seems to be a bug due to which this error pops up. In order to overcome this situation, we need to create the directory ‘util‘ inside ‘/usr/src/crypto/openssl‘ and run the update process again

# mkdir -p /usr/src/crypto/openssl/util
# freebsd-update fetch install

This sorts out the issue.
